Cape Town - The SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service (AMS) has a new addition to its fleet, thanks to Chery South Africa who sponsored the AMS with a new branded Chery Tiggo 8 Pro ensuring that they are providing access to health care and delivering lifesaving assistance across the region.
In the Western Cape, the AMS works in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness Emergency Medical Services to deliver emergency rescue and air ambulance services through its fleet of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft operating from two bases, Cape Town and Oudtshoorn.
The Cape Town base received their new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro sponsored by Chery Kuils River at yesterday’s official handover and Chery George will sponsor Oudtshoorn AMS.
Chief executive of AMS, Farhaad Haffejee expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship.
“We are grateful for Chery SA’s generous support and the crucial role they place in our mission.”
“These vehicles form part of the bigger ecosystem by AMS. People see the aircrafts and think that is it but there is a whole team and system behind the lifesaving and life-changing work that we do. We will use these vehicles to travel to our other bases for our training teams, get to meetings in and around the province. It works as part of the logistical support to the AMS to allow us to do the work we do.”
Verene Petersen, head of marketing at Chery SA added: “We, at Chery
SA appreciate the opportunity to aid AMS Western Cape in their efforts to do good, as we place great value on investing in causes that uplift communities in need. Going forward we hope to strengthen this partnership by expanding our support into more areas that require assistance. It’s also good to know that volunteers will be travelling in safety and comfort when conducting their important work.”
