Cape Town - Ladles of Love hosted an Easter food drive for schools and educares that fall under the Atlantis Early Childhood Development (ECD) directive.
Each child received a hot dog, an Easter egg and a teddy bear.
The event, held on Tuesday, was supported with funding from Coronation Fund Managers and the help of Kidz Discovery.
Founder of Ladles of Love, Danny Diliberto, said he was pleased about the partnership with Coronation and the Atlantis ECD through the help of Kathy Rautenbach from Kidz Discovery.
“I was looking for beneficiaries that we could support, because when Covid hit, that became our drive to get food out to communities, through bulk food supply, working with soup kitchens and ECDs,” he said.
Group head of marketing at Coronation Fund Managers, Wendy Bergsteedt, spoke about the importance of the event and helping young children in underprivileged communities.
“Today we are at Luberon Educare to spread a little cheer and love. We are filling bellies, but we are also giving the gift of comfort in the form of an adorable teddy bear for each child,” she said.
Founder of the Atlantis ECD directive, Melanie Andrews, was grateful for the effort put into the drive to help the children of Atlantis.
“This is the first time we have had something like this. After Covid, we had ECD events, but they were funded by us, but having this, it’s the first time that somebody comes out and blesses our children in this way,” she said.
Principal at Luberon Educare, Felicity Lambert, was also elated that the school could be part of the drive.
“I can’t tell you in words, only my heart can tell you. If I could open my heart, you would see what it means. We never had such a drive where every child got something,” she said.
Ladle of Love will continue to help the many underprivileged communities they serve through their food drives and through Kidz Discovery’s efforts, the Atlantis ECD can continue the wonderful work they do to serve the community.
