The Lock Stock is hosting its first night market at one of Cape Town's premier design hotspots, The Woodstock Exchange, tonight from 5-10pm. The event will have more than 40 design traders, food, beer, wine, gift wrapping station and live music by Samuel Miller, and shops and restaurants will be staying open till late. Mr Marshall’s Sunglasses At Night party is at The Shack (De Villiers Street, Zonnebloem) on Saturday from 9pm. This event features music from the 1950s through to - maybe just - the early 1990s, accompanied by their videos. It’s a dance along, sing along fun night out. This special edition of what has been up to now a rather erratic party depending on Mr Marshall’s mood, is a prequel to the firm once a month residency in the downstairs Mercury Lounge next door from January.

The Marina da Gama Crafters will hold a Christmas craft market on Saturday from 9am-2pm at the Eastlake Island Square, off Prince George Drive. The last craft market of the year will be a night market on Friday, December 13 from 6-9pm. Baked goodies, candles, food, fibre art, pewter art, jewellery, cards and many more hand-made items will be available, and you can have supper (or a drink) at one of the restaurants on the square. Long established and a firm favourite with locals and visitors to Cape Town, the V&A Waterfront free summer sunset concerts take place in the outdoor amphitheatre every weekend during December. Tucan Tucan play on Saturday at 6pm. Joshua Grierson plays on Sunday at 6pm, followed by Wendy Oldfield at 6.45pm.

The Bo-Kaap Market at the Stars Hall (64 Rose Stree) on Saturday from 10am-2pm will be offering all things traditional Cape Malay - foods like roti and curry, koesisters, hertzoggies, samoosas, and pies - and handmade crafts like embroidered tablecloths, beaded evening handbags, scarves, and handmade soaps. Marc Lottering's Comedy Roadshow returns to the GrandWest Grand Arena on Saturday at 8pm, featuring Lottering, international comedy sensation 'The Boy with Tape on his Face', Sam Wills, master ventriloquist Conrad Koch and his partner Chester Missing. MacStanley present an intimate, semi-unplugged set of their best-known songs and more at The Hope @ Paul Cluver Amphitheatre - one of the Cape's most awe inspiring performance venues just 45mins outside of Cape Town - on Saturday at 7pm. Tickets R220 from Computicket. Seats are unreserved - first come, first served. Guests may bring their own picnics to all events. No own alcohol is allowed but Paul Cluver wines will be on sale as well as artisanal beers and some select food vendors.

The Bootleggers Blues Band consists of six semi-professional musicians with decades of recording and performing experience between them. They’ll be playing at the Brass Bell in Kalk Bay on Saturday from 7-10pm, cover charge R40.

Reputable dealers will be in attendance to sell, buy, evaluate and advise on all aspects of philately, including stamps, envelopes, covers, correspondences, postal history, post cards, revenues, documents and non-fiction books of a historical nature at the stamp fair at the public library hall in Durbanville on Saturday (corner of Koeberg and Oxford roads) from 9.30m-12.30pm. The Masque Theatre in Muizenberg is in dire need of funds for a new roof and repairs to the air-conditioning. There will be a Christmas Market on Sunday 10am-2pm at the Masque Theatre, 37 Main Road, with more than 20 stalls with a wonderful range of goodies - from beaded jewellery and homemade preserves to watercolours, CDs and DVDs. There will be a child care service, so you can browse at your leisure. The market is to raise funds for a new roof and repairs to the air-conditioning.
