Her words encapsulate the deep affection that coloured their relationship, a bond that has touched the hearts of fans around the world.

Country music legend Dolly Parton has recently unveiled a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Carl Thomas Dean.

The emotional ballad opens with Parton’s gentle voice asking, “If you hadn’t been there / Where would I be? / Without your trust / Love and believe.”

As the song unfolds, Parton reminisces about the myriad experiences they shared, openly acknowledging the unwavering support Thomas Dean provided throughout their marriage.

She sings, “I wouldn’t be here / If you hadn’t been there / Holding my hand / Showing you care.”

The lyrics further highlight the profound impact he had on Parton's dreams and aspirations, showcasing her vulnerability as she sings, “You made me dream / More than I dared / And I wouldn’t be here / If you hadn’t been there.”

One of the most touching moments within the lyrics expresses gratitude to both God and Thomas Dean himself: “I thank God and you / Oh for your loving care / And for giving me love / With more to spare.”

Accompanying the song is a touching cover image that features a rare photograph of the couple in their youth, encapsulating the warmth and affection they shared.

When Thomas Dean passed away, Parton shared, “This is a love note to family, friends, and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband, Carl.”

She added, “I can’t reach out personally to each of you, but just know it has meant the world to me. He is in God’s arms now, and I am okay with that. I will always love you. Dolly.”

Parton and Thomas Dean’s love story began in 1964 when fate brought them together after she arrived in Nashville to pursue her music career.

They tied the knot two years later in 1966. Throughout her illustrious career, he chose to remain largely out of the public eye, but his influence on Parton's life and work remained palpable.

Intriguingly, he even inspired one of her most iconic songs, "Jolene”, born out of an incident with an overly friendly bank teller.

The new song masterfully showcases Parton's vocal range, as her delivery swings from soaring notes to near whispers, engaging listeners with pure emotion.

With this tribute, she not only honours the life of her beloved husband but also reinforces the beautiful legacy of love they created together.
