Tel Aviv - Britain's Prince William sipped an old-fashioned
soda along Tel Aviv's most historic promenade with Israel's
Eurovision winner, Netta Barzilai, on Wednesday.
The prince is on the second day of his tour of Israel and the
Palestinian Territories, the first official visit of a member of
Britian's royal family to the area, which Britain ruled as the
colonial power from 1920 to 1948.
William, dressed in a blazer and slacks, sipped a Gazoz, an Israeli
soft drink made from flavoured syrup and fizzy water, while chatting
to Israeli recording artist Netta Barzilai.
The pair stood on Rothschild Boulevard, a tree-lined street named
after the 19th-century British Jewish banker who assisted the Jewish
community in British mandate Palestine.
William is due to kick off the Palestinian leg of his tour on
Wednesday, travelling to Ramallah, the de facto Palestinian capital
in the West Bank. There he will meet President Mahmoud Abbas and
Palestinian refugee committees.
