I must admit that I Googled Noah Centineo's age after I watched Netflix's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before". Why? Well, Netflix's new rom-com has fans all over the world gushing over his hunky looks, and it's warranted.
However, the 22-year-old California-born actor is more than just a pretty face, he's actually a talented actor.
Here are my thoughts on some of the Netflix movies he's starred in, from "To All the Boys I've Loved Before", to "SPF-18" and the recently released "Sierra Burgess is a Loser."
"To All the Boys I've Loved Before"
By far the best out of the three Netflix rom-coms he's starred in, this is undoubtedly what many would call his "break-out" role. Centineo plays the role of Peter Kavinsky, alongside Lana Candor, who stars as lead actress and his love interest, Lara Jean Covey, in the young adult/high school romance.
Adapted from Jenny Han's best-selling novel, "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" follows high school student Lara Jean through her adventures and mishaps in romance. Lara Jean writes letters to all of her past loves. The letters are meant for her eyes only, but one day all the love letters are sent out to her previous loves. Her life is soon thrown into chaos when the boys confront her one by one.
What I liked about this film was that it wasn't focused on a bunch of "sex-crazed" teens (like Netflix's "The Kissing Booth") so I could watch it with my daughter.
One of my favourite scenes has to be the kitchen one, I think it really showed the depth of both of the actors' skills.
"SPF-18"
Coming-of-age rom-com "SPF-18" was definitely not one for the books. Released in September 2017, the very weak storyline sees a much younger Centineo cast as Johnny Sanders Jr, and the love interest of 18-year-old Penny Cooper (Carson Meyer). Penny spent years pining for Johnny Sanders Jr., but when a mysterious musician shows up on the beach, she is torn.
"SPF-18" could really only be summed up as not worth your time. Even if it has guest appearances by Keanu Reeves and Pamela Anderson, it's like watching a movie that may have been a hit 20 years ago, and you're left wondering what the hype was all about.
"Sierra Burgess is a Loser"
While I can think of million things wrong with "Sierra Burgess is a Loser's" message, I must credit the cast where due. Finally, fans get to see more of "Stranger Things" Barb (Shannon Purser), who spent most of her time in the Upside Down before being found dead.
"Sierra Burgess is a Loser" debuted on Netflix on 7 September and is a tale of a case of mistaken identity, which results in unexpected romance when the most popular girl in high school and the biggest loser must come together to win over their crushes.
Centineo plays the down-to-earth football hero (Jamey) who gets catfished by Purser (Sierra) with the help of her character's arch enemy, Kristine Froseth (Veronica).
The film has received mixed reviews from viewers, largely due to the lengths Sierra will go to deceive her love interest. It's actually a bit creepy, and after watching the film I believe Sierra Burgess really is a loser. But you be the judge.
Apart from his Netflix roles, Centineo is also known for his roles in the final three seasons of the television series "The Fosters", and the television film "How to Build a Better Boy". However, despite Centineo having the charm and talent to make any young adult rom-com watchable, one can only hope that future projects won't include too many type-cast roles.
And if you haven't seen any of his movies yet, watch him play with puppies while talking about his latest role in Buzzfeed's video below.
