“The Mommy Club” returns for a third instalment with new faces joining the cast.
In the previous season, all eyes were on Nozipho Ntshangase, who was going through the most after her husband broached the subject of taking on a second wife.
Oratile was in her villain era. There was a time when she called Mrs Mops, raving about how amazing the personalised gowns were but, behind her back, she said they were “botched” and when confronted about it at the reunion, she couldn’t defend herself.
It was bold of her to say Mrs Mops was not authentic when she was the inauthentic one.
She could learn a thing or two from Nunurai, who doesn’t buy face and tells it like it is because, from the get-go, she did say the quality of the gowns was not giving.
But enough about what happened in the previous season, it’s the new year, and we hope the ladies have let go of the past and are ready for a clean slate.
Speaking of which, we may experience Oratile as a single mom this season following the rumours of her husband being unfaithful. She is now posting pictures on her without her wedding ring on Instagram.
Could it be that the all-black outfit she wore in December with the caption: “Adios. #anewchapterbegins”. Was it her way of telling us her marriage is dead? We hope she spills the tea in the upcoming episodes.
We also cannot wait to meet the new faces: Mrs J, Noksie Khumalo, Pheladi and Vuyi. We want to see more of Vuyi, who lost the father of her kids, and perhaps there could be a bond between her and Her Majesty, who also lost her husband.
“I’ve experienced a lot of pain in my life, and I believe that to heal, I need to be open about it,” said Vuyi.
“There are many people who have been through what I’ve been through, and I hope my story can give them the strength to keep going and remind them that they should never give up.
Showmax did great by introducing “The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice” in August last year, showing us what the Durban mommies are up to.
However, with season three of “The Mommy Club”, it would be great to merge the two and cross cities between Durban and Joburg.
In the meantime, we cannot wait to see how new friendships will blossom, along with the rekindling of old ones, and learn more about Mrs J’s sangoma calling, her being a church owner and how she balances the two.
∎ “The Mommy Club” season three premières on Showmax on February 15 with new episodes dropping every Saturday.
