See out 2017 in spectacular style with a New Year’s Eve celebration like no other at the V&A Waterfront!
On New Year’s Eve local buskers and performers will entertain visitors in the lead up to a spectacular midnight fireworks display brought to the public by the V&A Waterfront and the City of Cape Town.
Little ones will also be catered for, and they can expect to encounter playful characters around the Kids Ahoy playground (near the Victoria Wharf Food Court) from 5pm.
The V&A Amphitheatre will be lit up from 7:30pm, and will host entertainers throughout the evening. Amphitheatre entertainment will end soon after the fireworks display.
Alfred Mall will have a festive spirit with ambient music on the night, while performers and entertainers will take over Nobel Square until midnight, turning the well-known landmark into a make-shift stage and entertainment zone.
New to the V&A Waterfront’s New Year’s event this year is the Silo district, where a range of roving characters will create a celebratory mood, and entertainers will perform on a stage set up against the backdrop of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA).
More than 80 restaurants and eateries will stay open on the evening, and additional food trucks will be positioned across the property to cater for all manner of hunger pangs.

Countdown to New Year
The entire property offers good viewing of the fireworks display, and in time honoured tradition, everyone will be able to join in the countdown.
Child safety
Promoters dressed as sailors will be dotted around the property during the evening, and will hand out wristbands for parents for children - parents or guardians can write their telephone numbers on the wristbands, which is useful should a parent and child get separated.
Traffic and parking
Given the popularity of the V&A Waterfront’s annual New Year party, parking fills up quickly, and traffic congestion in the city can make getting into the Waterfront difficult. Visitors are encouraged to use the MyCiTi bus service as an alternative.
Visitors who prefer to arrive by car are encouraged to park at the Silo district, which is just a five-minute stroll from the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre.
