Ed Sheeran has welcomed his second daughter with wife Cherry Seaborn.
The 31-year-old pop star – who has been married to childhood friend Cherry, 30, since 2019 and already has 21-month-old daughter Lyra with her – took to Instagram to reveal the happy news of the arrival after appearing to have kept the pregnancy a secret from the public.
Without revealing a name, alongside an image of a pair of white baby socks, Ed wrote on Instagram: “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x” (sic)
Back in August 2020, the “Bad Habits” hitmaker and Cherry welcomed Lyra into the world and the pair announced the news to fans in exactly the same way – as a surprise and alongside another image of white baby socks.
At the time, Ed wrote: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you … Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here.” The new dad continued: “We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”
The birth of the second baby comes just months after the “Shape of You” singer admitted that becoming a dad had allowed him to find a “purpose” outside of music.
He said: “I just found that I really didn't have purpose outside of (music) because when I was giving myself fixed time of no work, I wasn’t doing anything I enjoyed because I love doing music. And (being a dad) has actually given me purpose and something in life that's actually more important than my job.”
