Mzansi's celebrity couple, Priddy Ugly (real name Ricardo Moloi) and Bontle Modiselle-Moloi, have stirred up excitement and controversy with their recent announcement that they are expecting their second child.

The couple revealed the news in a playful short film titled “The Ha Moloi ‘Dipstick’ Chronicles”, utilising a creative blend of humour and heartfelt sentiment to share their joy.

However, their announcement has also sparked criticism from some corners of social media.

The couple's video, which features their adorable daughter, Afrika, alongside Bontle’s growing baby bump, included a cheeky dialogue about a “strong pull-out game”.

This light-hearted approach to sharing their family moment has not sat well with everyone.

While many applauded the creativity and warmth of the reveal, others took to platforms like TikTok to voice their displeasure.

One user lamented, “What are we teaching kids? Ain't nothing funny about this!” while another expressed discomfort, stating, “Cool, but that convo is cringe in front of a toddler.”

Adding fuel to the critique, “Podcast and Chill” host MacG did not hold back, questioning the necessity of such a public exposure of an intimate family moment.

“That was cringe. What must we do? That was a music video. What must we do, must we clap? This is the thing with oversharing,” he remarked during a recent episode, echoing sentiments shared by various social media users who felt the video missed the mark.

Despite the criticism, Priddy Ugly has taken a stand. Unfazed by the backlash, he made sure to articulate the deeper significance behind their announcement.

Taking to X, he expressed pride in showcasing a healthy, growing black family unit during a time when societal structures appear to be fracturing.

“In a time when global fertility and birth rates are declining, divorce rates are at an all-time high, and the black family structure is disadvantaged and under threat, witnessing their relationship stand the test of time - especially in an era where many fail - should bring a little joy to your heart,” he asserted.

“If you can’t find beauty in that, look inward. God be with you.”

The couple, who have been together for over a decade and celebrated five years of marriage recently, exemplify resilience and unity in the competitive entertainment landscape.

Known for their stylish appearances at events, often dressed in matching outfits, they have cultivated a strong and ever-blossoming relationship that resonates with fans and admirers alike while keeping things fresh and real.
