MTV’s Video Music Awards took place at the UBS Arena in New York on Wednesday where musos came out to play and South Africa’s sweetheart Tyla was one of them.
While the “Water” singer was nominated for two awards she won the Best Afrobeats award for her popular song.
Not only did she win the award but she certainly took the prize for best dressed as well.
She stood out on the red (or should we say black) carpet in a bright yellow mini dress.
The 22-year-old showed a bit of flesh in as the dress was made from thin fabric strips that wrapped around her body.
The fabric strips cascaded into a long train.
Underneath the peek-a-poo dress, she wore a neon green bikini bottom.
Her outfit look came straight off the runway from Area’s fall 2024 ready–to–wear collection, which was featured as part of New York Fashion Week last week.
While the runway look was styled with long yellow gloves and black heels, for her VMAs look she paired the revealing dress with bright coral pink strappy sandals.
The outfit was accessorised with a chunky turquoise blue neckpiece and bold rings.
Her was hair was styled in big curls while her makeup was kept simple but glamorous.
Tyla hasn’t missed a step on the red carpet this year.
At this year’s “Garden in Time” themed Met Gala she made heads turn in a dress made almost entirely of sand by world famous couture designer Balmain.
She stood out the Grammy Awards in a pale green Vesace dress.
