Durban – Msunduzi Municipality’s manager Lulamile Mapholoba has told ratepayers in the provincial capital of Pietermaritzburg that the municipality is up to the task of delivering services to its residents.

“We are on the road to recovery and committed to growing the capital city economically and socially,” he told members of the Msunduzi Association of Residents, Ratepayers and Civics (MARRC).

Mapholoba, together with other senior managers met with the organisation at the weekend.

The organisation has in the past taken the municipality to task over its numerous service delivery failures.

In a statement from the municipality about the engagement, it said Mapholoba gave the assurance that the City is working towards and is on the road to recovery.

He also urged the ratepayers to work with the municipality, saying that working together would “bring them closer to the change we want to see”.

“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that this City is able to perform,” said Mapholoba.

Mapholoba expressed his gratitude to MARRC for the engagements, and emphasised that the management of Msunduzi was equal to the task of resolving challenges that the residents and ratepayers had raised.

The statement said the city manager had highlighted the importance of delivering the best services to residents, ratepayers and civic society.

The management also reported on plans and strategies being implemented to address the challenges and issues raised by MARRC.
