The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America (USA) is behind the arrest of a Gauteng man who raped, sexually assaulted, and created and distributed pornography of his girlfriend’s minor daughter.
The 48-year-old man from Vanderbijlpark appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court and faces charges of rape, sexual assault, and creation of child pornography and distribution of a 13-year-old girl.
The provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Lumka Mahanjana said the man made a brief appearance.
It is alleged that in 2020, the 48-year-old man, who is in a love relationship with the victim’s mother began to expose the child to child pornography images at their place of residence in Vanderbijlpark.
It was further alleged the man would also sexually assault the young girl by touching her and taking pictures of her breasts. He also allegedly inserted his penis and hands into her vagina and mouth.
The accused distributed the images on the KiK social media platform, and an undercover FBI agent discovered them and reported the matter to the South African Police Service.
A case was opened against the man and he was subsequently arrested on December 12, 2024, at his place of residence.
He is set to apply for bail next year.
“In court, the matter was postponed to January 14, 2025, for a formal bail application,” Mahanjana said.
The 48-year-old man remains in custody until his next court appearance.
