Besides her second letter of apology which had Umkhonto weSizwe Party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu’s name, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla is undergoing internal disciplinary action for insulting him.

This was revealed by Shivambu during a media briefing on Wednesday in Durban.

The party held its first national high command meeting since last year’s general elections. The meeting was to reflect on many issues, including the party’s outstanding performance.

However, Shivambu was inundated with questions from the media, who disputed the secretary-general's assertions about the party's overall health

The media wanted to know if the party was united, particularly after he was insulted.

When asked about Zuma-Sambudla's tirade against him last month, which included the use of the f*** word, the former Economic Freedom Fighters deputy president seemed uncomfortable discussing it and said that the issue was being looked into for disciplinary action.

He further stated that he was not concerned about what people were saying on social media and in other corners about him and the party, challenging any party member who was unhappy with the direction of the party to come to the meeting and raise issues.

“MKP is the most unified party in the country as we speak. There is no member who has a name, surname, and ID who has ever come to our meeting and said there was something wrong with what we are doing. I think Duduzile is being handled somewhere for disciplinary processes,” said Shivambu.

Zuma-Sambudla, who also attended the Wednesday meeting, shocked many social media users with her insulting comments on Shivambu. This caused a great deal of controversy, with some citing Shivambu's time in the Umkhonto weSizwe Party because of Zuma-Sambudla's strong relationship with her father.

Zuma senior, however, reprimanded her and threatened to exclude her from the party until she apologised.

She eventually changed her mind and issued another public apology, this time to the secretary-general, after making what many called a half-baked apology that omitted any reference to Shivambu.

Shivambu also dismissed the reported standoff between the KwaZulu-Natal legislature caucus leader Mervin Dirks and disgruntled party legislature members.

It has been reported that there were two caucuses. The secretary-general said there was no crisis, however, he confirmed that those party members who booed the provincial convener, former premier Willies Mchunu in Pietermaritzburg recently, have been charged and will be hauled to a disciplinary committee.
