Nominations for the top seven at the ANC's 55th National Elective Conference have been confirmed and finalised.
According to the electoral committee, the following nominations stand:

Voting on the positions is expected to commence at 9am on Sunday.
UPDATE: Nominations have been closed for the Top Seven leadership positions of the ANC. The electoral committee now prepares to print the ballot paper. Delegates are reminded to bring their accreditation/tags and identity documents.Voting will resume on Sunday morning at 9am.
UPDATE: Lindiwe Sisulu nominated for position of treasurer-general. She accepts nomination. Delegates look tired as the push to conclude nominations for TG continue. Electoral committee announces that Lindiwe Sisulu's name has failed to meet the threshold.
UPDATE: Andile Lungisa nominated for treasurer-general. Chair of the electoral committee Kgalema Motlanthe says Andile Lungisa was suspended and does not qualify.
UPDATE: Nominations for treasurer-general starts. Nomination so far have been Benjamin Chauke, Pule Mabe, Mzwandile Masina. The Dullah Omar region in the Western Cape nominates Gwen Ramokgopa for position of TG. She accepts.
UPDATE: Delegates now sing a pro-Ramaphosa song, bringing proceedings to a standstill.
UPDATE: ANC provincial coordinator Ronalda Nalumango accepts nominations for 2nd DSG from the Western Cape.
UPDATE: Delegates chant and sing songs on the floor, holding placards. Electoral chair Kgalema Motlanthe urges them to sit down.
UPDATE: Electoral committee announces name of ANC Women's league coordinator Maropene Ramakgopa for 2nd DSG qualifies.
UPDATE: Nominations for the second DSG (deputy secretary-general) start. Free State, Botshabelo nominates Maropene Ramakgopa for second DSG. She accepts.
UPDATE: Electoral chair Kgalema Motlanthe announces that the nominations for the position of 1st DSG has been completed. He urges delegates to allow the agency to do its work. "This is nomination. It's not voting. You still have to go to the booth and vote... Please take your seats comrade and let's proceed.“
UPDATE: Delegates continue to voice discontent over how the process has unfolded over the counting of votes. Gwede Mantashe urges delegates to move away from the mic and sit down.
UPDATE: Motlanthe can be heard saying: "What are these people doing? We will wait. We can be patient. Comrades please take your seats so that we can continue counting otherwise we will be here forever."
UPDATE: Delegates now chanting and singing while the electoral committee sorts out disputes around the nomination process. Some delegates have voiced their discontent over how the process has been handled thus far. Electoral chair Kgalema Motlanthe urges the crowd to sit down and allow the the agents to count. He shouts: "Hello comrades, please take your seats."
UPDATE: Tina Joemat-Pettersson accepts nomination for first DSG (deputy secretary-general). Nomination made by the Northern Cape.
UPDATE: Nomvula Mokonyane has accepted a nomination as first deputy secretary-general of the ANC.
UPDATE: ANC NEC member, Gwen Ramakgopa has declined nomination for first deputy secretary-general. She was nominated from the floor.
UPDATE: There are no nominations from the floor for the position of national chairperson and for the position of secretary-general. Those nominated by branches earlier stand as they are. Febe Potgieter has also declined nomination for DSG (deputy secretary-general).
UPDATE: Outgoing deputy president David Mabuza has declined a nomination from the floor to retain his position.
UPDATE: Cyril Ramaphosa and Zweli Mkhize are the two candidates for president of the ANC. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has been nominated from the floor, but she has declined the nomination.
UPDATE: Kgalema Motlanthe, the chairperson of the ANC's electoral committee has now handed over to the Elections Agency. The agency explains that for any nominations from the floor to stand, it has to be supported by 1109 voting delegates in order to go through.
UPDATE: Nominations for the ANC's new top seven begins. Kgalema Motlanthe, the chairperson of the electoral committee is presiding over the process. A delegate from the Harry Gwala region in KwaZulu-Natal is giving him a tough time.
UPDATE: It's official, ANC delegates attending the national elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg have endorsed the proposal to have the second deputy secretary-general. This means that it will be the top seven, not top six as we know it. Nominations and voting edging closer.
UPDATE: ANC members attending the 55th national elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg have adopted the credentials, paving the way for the nomination and election of the top seven national officials. KZN, which is behind Dr Zweli Mkhize, has 876 delegates out of the 4426 delegates (including leagues, which are divided). The winner needs around 2219 votes.
ANC introduces Top Seven at 55th National Conference to replace Top Six
The position of a second deputy secretary-general has added and a party member will be elected to occupy it.
Mabe said the only voting that will happen on Saturday night will be voting for officials (the new top seven).
He said if a candidate does not make it into the top seven, she or he will be automatically moved to the additional (NEC) to contest for a position there.

ANC Deputy President David Mabuza delivers organisational report despite delays and glitches at the 55th national elective conference
The ANC said former president Jacob Zuma’s continuing court case for corruption in a KwaZulu-Natal court is painful for the party.

UPDATE: Pule Mabe clarifies that the only voting that will happen tonight will be voting for officials (the new top seven). He says if a candidate does not make it into the top seven, she or he will be automatically moved to the additional (NEC) to contest for a position.
UPDATE: Pule Mabe says since there is a new position of second deputy secretary-general, the electoral commission will open the floor for delegates to nominate from the floor. Thereafter there will be voting for the new top seven and all that is expected to happen tonight. He says they are determined to ensure that the conference is a success.
UPDATE: ANC National Spokesperson Pule Mabe says after constitutional amendments which include adding a new position for a second deputy secretary, there will be nominations. He says this will include nominations from the floor. However, to make a cut, a nominee should be supported by 25 percent of the voting delegates.
UPDATE: ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe is now addressing the media about the latest developments at the ongoing national elective conference. He says all reports have been presented and delegates have gone for dinner. They will come back at 7pm for credential adoptions and constitutional amendments.

Load shedding and the tampering of delegate lists were blamed for the delays at the ANC's 55th national elective conference, which kicked off at Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, on Friday.

With the first day of the ANC's 55th national elective conference out of the way despite several challenges, the party's spokesperson Pule Mabe says if the conference collapses, it will be shameful.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said the only president the ANC did not fire was Nelson Mandela.

Call for the removal of election agency running ANC conference due to ‘conflict of interest’
Former Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association spokesperson Carl Niehaus has called on the ANC Electoral Committee to immediately remove the Elexions Agency as adjudicator of the 55th elective conference since its head, Dren Nupen, was “conflicted”.
Niehaus, who is appealing his dismissal from the ANC, told Independent Media on Saturday the Nupen family had been close friends of President Cyril Ramaphosa since the time of the democratic dispensation talks of the early 90s under the banner of the Congress of a Democratic South Africa (Codesa).

Calls to delay ANC conference due to registration glitches
ANC delegates that are still stuck at the registration centre have called for the elective conference to be delayed until they finish in order to allow them to participate.
A delegate from the Eastern Cape who spoke on condition of anonymity told Independent Media that it was unfair for the party leadership to continue with the conference since it was not their fault but that of the officials who were tasked with the registration process.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe denies reports of Nasrec load shedding exemption
With day two of the 55th ANC National Conference being dedicated to the adoption of credentials, ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe has denied that the ANC had requested Eskom to exempt Nasrec Conference Centre from load shedding during the 55th ANC National Conference taking place there this weekend.
"The people who need to get their numbers first are the delegates, and this is their conference. The briefing on the numbers will be done by the secretary general’s office, which will give the numbers of credentials to the conference first before the conference will proceed," he said.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has conceded that the ANC, as the ruling party, has not paid necessary attention to Eskom's problems, saying that the governing party "dropped the ball" when it came to the power utility.

The provinces of Limpopo and the North West are the latest to throw their weight behind presidential hopeful Dr Zweli Mkhize.
Independent Media has been reliably informed by two highly placed provincial delegates and leaders at the conference that negotiations between the two provinces were “done and dusted” and had been “closed with no room left for negotiation”.

On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa and former president Jacob Zuma caused a stir by sharing a light-hearted moment hours after Msholozi indicated he would be instituting private prosecution of Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala scandal.
Gender parity is also a key issue at this conference with the ANC’s women presidential hopefuls slamming the patriarchy in the party calling for a 50/50 gender split in the top six leadership structure.
