Well-known TV actor and comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane has passed away at the age of 31.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of celebrated comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane,” his agency Pickedginger said in a statement.
“A friend to so many, he will be remembered for his off-the-wall humour, original style of stand-up comedy and the joy he brought to audiences across South Africa.”
Dibakwane is known for his roles in movies such as “Divorced at 50”, “Real Estate Sisters” and “Miseducation”.
Born in 1994, he was considered to be among the first comedic voices of the “Born Free” generation.
He rose to fame after winning the coveted Newcomer’s Award at the 6th annual Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in 2016.
Subsequent to that he won a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year as well as two other Comic’s Choice nominations.
Dibakwane was also an accomplished scriptwriter, having been nominated for a SAFTA for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting.
