ACMS Chief Operating Officer, Tshegofatso Motsoenyane in her welcoming address said: “The demand for critical minerals, essential components for everything from clean energy technologies to advanced manufacturing, continues to grow exponentially. Africa is uniquely positioned to meet this demand, not only due to its vast mineral wealth but also because of the growing commitment across the continent to ensure sustainable and equitable growth within the sector”.

She continued, “As we look ahead to the summit, I am confident that the discussions we will have here today and in the coming months will pave the way for new opportunities, partnerships, and innovations in the critical minerals industry. Together, we can unlock the full potential of Africa’s resources and build a more sustainable future for all.”

The event’s guest speaker, Professor Nikki (Nicola) Wager, Director of the DSI-NRF of Excellence in Integrated Mineral and Energy Resource Analysis (CRIMERIA) brought in her research expertise to emphasise the importance of upskilling the next generation of mining professionals in order to grow the mining and geology sector, which will be an integral part in the conversations for the upcoming summit’s agenda.
