Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos believes Siyabonga Ngezana’s form for Romanian giants FCSB, formely known as Steaua Bucharest, can only be a good thing for the national team.
The former Kaizer Chief defender has become a key figure for the Romanian champions, who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Uefa Champions League.
And in their second last game before the international break, Ngezana found the back of the net as they beat FC UTA Arad 2-0.
Bafana coach Broos was happy with how the 27-year-old was performing in Europe.
“It can only be good if players are at a level higher than the local competition, this is the highest quality of club level, when you can play UEFA Champions League, or Europa or Conference League even, it’s something extra [to improve] players,” Broos said, according to iDiskiTimes.
“They just become better by playing those games, they are tough games against good teams and you need this to become better as a player, let’s hope it continues like that because it will be good for Bafana Bafana also.”
Broos showed faith in Ngezana when he played him in Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda last week, and South Sudan on Tuesday.
They were held by Uganda in Johannesburg, and beat South Sudan in Juba.
