Soweto giants Orlando Pirates are reportedly looking to secure the services of Richards Bay Football Club forward Yanela Mbuthuma as they seek to strengthen their squad.

The 22-year-old Mbuthuma has been in fine form for the KwaZulu-Natal based outfit this season scoring three goals and providing one assist. His impressive pace and ability to pressure defenders have also captured the attention of many South African football fans.

He has been instrumental in helping the Natal Rich Boys rise from the bottom of the league table to 14th place on the log table, as they look to move out the relegation zone.

According to Soccer Laduma, the publication reports that the Buccaneers are interested in signing the young promising striker, with his high work-rate cited as one of his qualities.

However, it is believed that Richards Bay would not let him go easily as they consider him a key figure in their fight to avoid relegation this season.

"But it will be difficult to get the player now in January as Richards Bay are having plans of their own about him. He is in the plans for the club in the fight against relegation. The club is unlikely to entertain any offers for the boy at this stage," the source added.
