After almost two decades of service as one of South Africa’s most beloved traffic reporters, Rob Byrne - AKA Roby Beezy, is leaving Metro FM after being with the station for thirteen years.
His road knowledge has made him a trusted voice in many South Africans daily lives, making him one of the most popular traffic reporters in the country.
Byrne informed the Metro FM management late last year of his intention to leave the station on March 31.
On social media platform X, Byrne said "I would like to thank the Metro FM listeners for the most remarkable experience imaginable. Thank you for the love, the affection and the companionship over the many years. It's hard to express just how deep my gratitude runs. It was a great honour and privilege to be able to serve in this position for so long. Thank You for making it all possible"
Byrne's journey in broadcasting is marked by significant achievements
In 2014, his exceptional work was recognised when he received the “Best Traffic Presenter” award at the MTN Radio Awards, a testament to his dedication and skill in delivering crucial information to listeners.
Beyond his role at Metro FM, Byrne's influence extended across various SABC radio stations, where his live traffic reports reached a diverse audience nationwide.
SABC newsreader, Paulette Neo Kaise, joins “The Best Morning Breakfast Show” and “The Touchdown” to provide daily traffic updates.
Byrne's departure marks the end of an era for the station and its listeners, who have come to rely on his dependable traffic reports during their daily commutes.
