Nourish to Flourish (N2F), a Durban-based non-profit organisation dedicated to alleviating hunger, celebrated a milestone on Tuesday - completing 100 days of feeding South Africa’s most vulnerable communities.

"This achievement reflects the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our supporters, and the resilience of the communities we serve," said Pavan Maharaj, the trustee and project manager of N2F.

Maharaj said N2F was a transformative community-driven initiative dedicated to alleviating hunger and empowering lives.

"Since its inception in October 2024, N2F has provided more than 30 000 meals, nourishing not just stomachs but also the souls of countless individuals. N2F was founded on the belief that no one should go to bed hungry or feel forgotten by society.

"Under the guidance of Swami Abhedananda, the initiative was born out of a profound desire to address the socio-economic challenges affecting millions. Swami Abhedananda’s vision goes beyond feeding programs. It aims to instil hope, dignity and love in the lives of recipients."

Swami Abhedananda is the spiritual head of the Chinmaya MIssion South Africa.

Maharaj said over the past 100 days, N2F had provided meals to school children, homeless shelters, orphanages, old age homes, and institutions for the physically impaired.

"We also delivered relief to communities struck by disasters such as fires and violence, and reached individuals living below acceptable living standards. This milestone reflects more than numbers. It showcases restored faith and reignited hope. Each meal served is a testament to the power of compassion and the generosity of donors, who make this work possible."

N2F's motto is “Produce more than what we consume, and give more than what we take".

"This encapsulates its enduring commitment to societal transformation.

Guided by the principles of empathy, respect, and dignity, the initiative aims to:

⦁ Build a society free of hunger, despair, and inequality.

⦁ Empower beneficiaries with life skills and moral values to contribute positively to the nation’s growth.

⦁ Serve as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to create meaningful change.
